Update on MySpace Experiment
The library currently has 33 friends on MySpace. hopefully more will follow.
After setting up our MYSpace page (http://www.myspace.com/morrisvillecollegelibrary) , I posted this bulletin:
I am interested in finding out if there is any way the library can use MySpace to help you get the information you need for your course work. Do you feel we are butting in by being here? Do we even belong here?
I got 6 responses so far. Here are 3 of them:

Although there are corporate customers and bands alike that have a myspace, sort of as a marketing gimmick I guess. To that end I think some things could be used, but as a viable and strong tool in an information finding/usability process it wouldnt be possible in my opinion.
Honestly, I found it quite amusing that the library made a myspace. I don't mind that ya'll are here at all intruding in any sense. Do you belong here? thats for you to decide. But I think anyone who signs up for myspace belongs here. I mean staff are allowed to post on facebook, noone really complains, in fact some students add their professors as friends. So I think just to be here is enough :-)

i think it might be great for the students to connect in the aspect that many are already online on myspace anyway so it would be easier to get in touch

I honestly think the Library on myspace is a good way for students to see if books r available VIA internet.... you could have done it with out myspace.... but I like most students would have never knew that tho until I tried out the search feature. Maybe you can figure out a way for student to put there books on hold at the library so they can pick them up with at all the searching around the library wasting time......there are bunch of things the campus library can do for the students and myspace is a good way to get students attention
