Booksellers: Please read this.

TwitThis

lately I have been getting email messages directly from people selling books. These e-mails are coming directly to my work email address. These emails immediately are placed on my blocked senders list. I do read the emails from publishers and database vendors where I have signed up for their newsletters and announcements.

What I find even more frustrating is calls where people ask for the reference librarian and it turns out to be a sales call. If I am on duty I tell them that I do not take cold calls from booksellers or publishers. I don't even pass those calls along anymore to our director who handles acquisitions. I have hung up on booksellers that will not take no for an answer. My day is busy enough. Sending catalogs and letters via snail mail is fine.

Our acquisitions are based on reviews from Choice, NYT Book Review, faculty and student recommendations, and various other book review sources. Don't call us, we will call you if we want your publications.
