Academic Libraries and "Library 2.0"
I haven't figured out why all of the discussion about Library 2.0 seems to be coming from public librarians and now school librarians. Are academic librarians confused by the label or just not interested? While I think it lumps too many things together, I believe there is a need for a much wider discussion of the technology and goals lumped under Library 2.0. I know there are other librarians in college and university libraries out there with both a technical bent and experience in public services such as reference and circulation similar to mine. Why are yo so silent on such an important set of issues?
Here is a good summary and discussion of Library 2.0 written by Walt Crawford:

Thanks Drew.
I am reading your concern at COLLIB-L@ala.org, and serendipity brings me to Stephens Lighthouse where he is talking about Web 2.0, Library 2.0, Librarian 2.0, etcetera.
Best wishes from a information visualization blogger and Multifaith Librarian
I was unsure if I should respond here or on ILI but I decided here would be fine.
I disagree that academic librarians are not discussing Web 2.0. Meredith Farkas, a strong online voice, has discussed it on her blog many times, as have I, and we both work in academic libraries.
I think it is unfair to use the Biblioblogosphere as the only indication because, as you know, there are somtimes disproportionately more numbers on the public side of things.
